Mozambique disaster, where do we stand? (30)
--------------------------------------------

About the Mozambique disaster, Holly Ladd wrote on Feb. 28th: "...the
real health issues are more subtle, and include mental health impact,
particularly for children and those facing long term displacement."

The following cross-bibliography concentrates specifically on the
posttraumatic-stress disorders (PTSD) of children on the aftermath of
natural disasters, including lists of cross-cited references men-
tioned in the papers. It is available as a zip file (17KB):

Between 1987 and 1999 I found only 43 papers (source: citation in-
dex). Most reports are related to the Hurricane-Andrew (published in
1995-96) and only one is specific to floods. This document may serve
as a concerning evidence to show the need for more research on the
impact of natural disasters on the mental health of children.
