E-drug: King's Fund Breakfast Seminar (London, UK)
---------------------------------------------
Dear E-druggers,
Please Note:
PLEASE DO NOT JUST HIT YOUR REPLY BUTTON.
Reply to Andy Bell <[email protected]> THANKS!
The Kings Fund is holding a breakfast discussion on Tuesday, 3 March
between 8.30 and 10am at the Fund in Cavendish Square, W1. It is
entitled:
"The current system of drug licensing adequately represents the
patients interests"
Mike Rawlins, Professor of Clinical Pharmacology at the University of
Newcastle and Chair of the Committee on the Safety of Medicines will
present the case and Charles Medawar, director of Social Audit, will
oppose him. The discussion will be chaired by Niall Dickson, social
affairs editor of the BBC.
We are inviting representatives from consumer groups, voluntary
organisations, drug companies, departments of clinical pharmacology,
public health and legislators from both the UK and Europe,
pharmacists, doctors and nurses. We are interested in hearing peoples
views about how drugs trials are conducted, patients and consumers
involvement in trials, clinical effectiveness of drugs and the licensing
process.
The idea behind our breakfast discussion programme is fourfold: to
raise a key issue of concern to the Kings Fund, health professionals
and the public; to bring together as many people as possible with a
view or an interest; to learn from what people have to say and to
inform others about the current and future work of the Kings Fund in
that subject area, if appropriate. The discussion will take place in an
informal setting, with coffee and pastries.
***If you are interested, contact Andrew Bell <[email protected]>***
He will send you an invitation.
Yours,
David Gilbert
