Cholera and Malaria Epidemics (4)
---------------------------------
Dear Christian Labadie,
Thank you for your kind interest in our cholera filter.
We have based our involvement in the cholera filter on 2 tests con-
ducted by the Maryland University. The first one was a general one pub-
lished a few years back, and the second one was on our filter material
specifically. I know they are working on a third, general test, but
have not heard it should have been published yet. There would most
probably be earlier tests as well, but this does not really have our
interest, as we are mainly concerned with the latest update on informa-
tion and when we have the ready product to move swiftly into the field
in order to make a difference to the people there.
We are just a small family business with some knowledge of textiles and
try to direct our resources to improving whatever textiles is used in
tropical disease control, especially for prophylactic purposes, and as
we feel convinced our cholera filter is giving significant results, it
is very difficult for us to find resources for yet another test of its
efficiency. If we were to have a new test it should be on how to get
the filters out into the field as quickly as possible.
In order not to overload this list I am sending you personally the test
specifically on our cholera filter. The general test from Maryland Uni-
versity can be obtained from Dr. Anwar Huq <[email protected]>
All the best,
TORBEN
