How Accurate are Estimates of HIV/AIDS prevalence rates... (2)

Hello Everybody on this Forum,
I think that O.Kasirim Nwuke's letter which contains a publication
entitled "Lessons from Ogobia,Nigeria" contains really good lessons
for everyone. Namely: One thing is a HIV+ status, - which is sad
enough - and another aspect: The public opinion about it. The final
conclusion, - at least according to my humble opinion, - is that we
(doctors, social workers, etc.,) must continue a well established and
vigorous health education, to convince people that HIV is not infec-
tious by sight or by living together with an infected person. (The
route of infection is quite different... and in this field we have
also duties, to educate people to practice safer sex.) I think, -
moreover I am strongly convinced - that the discussion is closed al-
ready, - NO doubt that the final causative agent of this disease is
the HIV-virus. (See: South African news about this problem.) A legion
of research workers, - together with the WHO, - are working to solve
this problem (drugs, vaccine), but at the present moment it seems
that the most important duty is to educate the society as a whole.
